Our condo is officially rentable!! Jordan and I spent the weekend completely indoors. We cleaned the nitty-gritty stuff you don't clean on an average day, such as door frames and clearing out bookshelves. I discovered I have another pet-peeve, dirty door frames. Every house I've ever looked at I judge by it's dirt smudged door frames. I'll just add it to my list. Today I frosted the glass of our shower and cleaned out the closets. Both because I've been wanting to, and I know it'll look better to potential renters. Now we just have to hear yay or nay from the bank to see where we're at.

Signing Our Life Away

We met with our realtor, Jaime, and signed papers today to put an offer on the house. We put in a pretty low offer, but since it's a short sale and we don't have an appraisal we wanted to be on the low side. Hopefully we'll hear back from the bank by July 1st to know what they want to do.

On Thursday we're meeting with her again to do the paperwork for our condo. It shouldn't be hard to rent this place out, according to Jaime, because it's so "cute". Exciting times! Hope it's a smooth transition!

Pre-Approval and Pizza Cakes

Today I emailed Countrywide and we got our preapproval letter. With a short sale, you have to have a preapproval letter with all offers or the bank won't consider it. Since that is out of the way, we'll be meeting with our realtor tomorrow to write up the papers and send it off to the bank. Banks can take a long time to get back to you on short sales, so hopefully we will hear bank in less than a month. The suspense will be awful, but we still need to lease out our condo, so that will give us a chance to get people in here.





Other than looking at houses this weekend, we spent it quite busy. We went to Crash-O-Rama on Friday night, which turned out to be a lot more fun than I expected. It's kind of like rubber necking on overdrive. You watch cars do really stupid things and wait for a crash. I think I liked the boat trailer race the most, which coincidentally also had the most destruction. I would go again, I'll let Jordan speak for himself.





On Saturday we went to a friends surprise birthday party. We ate dinner at Mellow Mushroom and went back to a friends house for a little partying. The birthday boy is a pizza lover, so we ate pizza and had a pizza cake, which he was just ecstatic about. I think I got about 5 hugs from him all together, cause the party and the pizza cake were my ideas. Ya, that's right, I'm an awesome friend. And I think I'll close up on that note.

Hopeful Home

Jordan and I have been house hunting on and off for the better part of 3 years now. We bought the condo knowing it would be short term, and now we're ready to move on. We have looked at approximately 10 different houses and found 1 we really like. It's a foreclosure, of course, so it should be a good deal for us. The current residence are still moving out and lets hope they don't strip the joint bare. They already took the good appliances and traded them for stuff I wouldn't ever put my food in. But that's what angry tenants do when they have their house taken away from them. I think only in America would people expect to live in a home, even if they can't actually pay for it. JMHO.

This is our potential home. We really like the floor plan. This house has a lot of character. Most houses now-a-days just look like square rooms with a roof over them.

This is the foyer with hard wood floors, lovely shade of carpet, and a half bath in front of the stairs. On the opposite side is the entry to the master bedroom.

From the entry, it opens into the living room.

Off of the living room is the dining room (where that green wall is to the right)

The kitchen has nice cabinets, good lighting, and the black appliances are gone. It's an eat in kitchen.

The master bathroom is very large with a garden tub, separate shower, double vanity, and walk in closet. The vanity needs replaced, but that's insignificant considering everything else we like about this house.

So for 1775 sq ft, 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 2 car garage, and 1/4 acre, we will be paying less than what we paid for our condo. Life is funny like that.
