The Power of Wikipedia

To get everything out there and summed up in a single blog swoop.

1. The house we put an offer on is a short sale

2. It will (and has) take months to hear from the bank

3. Patience will pay off in approxiamtely 30k of equity the day we sign the papers on the house

4. We're willing to wait as long as the bank takes for this house and that equity

5. Wikipedia is an awesome website and you can read more about shortsales on there

6. If wikipedia didn't answer it, I probably can't either

We got a tiny bit of information about the house. The person representing the bank HINTED what the appraisal was, and our offer is 81% of that appraisal. Banks consider offers from 60-90% of the appraisal, so we are on target there! Unfortunately, the review process of our offer alone could take another 45 days. After that, if they accept our offer, the closing would act as a regular buy/sell of realstate. It's a good thing we aren't in a hurry! It's kind of nice not being able to rush into something. We've definitely had plenty of time to think about it. We're still willing to fight and wait for it.

In the meantime

We haven't heard anything about the house. Jordan and I discussed it the other night and we're going to wait out this house. We've looked at others and it is still our favorite. Even though it could take up to 90 days to hear anything, I still think we have a really good chance of getting it. So, we haven't heard anything new.

Jordan's game he has been working on all year came out this week. Apparently the local news went to EA to do a piece on them. They are pretty well known around Orlando for their laid back atmosphere. All of us non-EAers are pretty jealous. Here is the link for the news video.

My Nerd

As most of you know Jordan has been anticipating the release of the new and improved iPhone for about a year. Today was the big day. We woke up at 6am, got in line at 645 and finally made it into the store about 945. We were lucky, because they only had 2 phones left after we got our's. And I'll have to say, it's amazing how pissy people get about a phone. Yeah, it's a cool phone and ATT ran out, but people got so dramatic about it. I was telling the customer service guy we were working with that it's not a life saving pill; we didn't stand in line for 3 hours and come to find out the pill ran out and we were then going to die. But you would have thought so with the way some people were acting. It is JUST a phone. And it only takes five days to order it!

I ended up getting one too. I don't really know why, except it was available and there is so much hype I wanted to find out why. Of course once I got mine working it was pretty freakin' awesome. The usability is amazing. If I think the phone should have a feature, it's probably on it. Apple really has some smart nerds working for them. So I am now forever connected to the internet, iPod, GoogleMaps and it's amazing how addictive that becomes.

Me getting an iPhone wasn't nearly as exciting as Jordan getting one. He's been dealing with his cheap (free), falling apart, super crappy phone for 2 years now. He deserved this to the max and I'm glad he finally got it. He spent the entire day playing with all the applications. He's kind of like a kid on Christmas morning. Well, a rich kid that got a really expensive toy to be more accurate.

Sarasota

We had a great time in Sarasota. We went to Ringling Museum. Jordan and I discovered we don't like art that much, unless it includes animals. We went to see a Chinese Acrobat show which was really awesome. It was Chinese students that had come to the US to perform. They were really good, kept us on the edge of our seats with their daring performace.

The hotel we stayed in was close to the bay and it had this cool Art Deco feel with a beach twist to it.

And then there was beautiful Siesta Key Beach. People told us we had to go there because of the white, powdery sand. And they weren't kidding, it was so soft and it doesn't get hot.

We had a great weekend and have already started planning another!

Independence Day!

Happy 4th of July!

Jordan and I spent the day with my family. Mom went all out with the food, as usual, and we all ate way too much. Mamaw and Uncle Mike spent the afternoon with us. We got Mamaw talking about her childhood, which is always really fun. Even at the age of 86 she is as sharp as a tack and loves telling stories.

We also took the dogs with us. They love having the backyard to play in and the other dogs to run around with. My mom's pugs and the Russels get along pretty good. They don't really have an option. Jelly dug a nice hole in the backyard, and Peanut found her way onto Mamaw's lap. She always manages to do this, and everyone knows Mamaw does not like touching dogs. Peanut is determined to break her phobia of "dirty" dogs though.

Tomorrow we will be going to Sarasota for the night. Just to get out of town for the weekend is our goal. There are so many beautiful places in Florida and we've visited hardly any of them. And it's a part of being "active" for our marriage. So we should come back with lots of fun pictures to post!
